MAGAZINES -  We are short of magazines for the waiting room - if you have anything appropriate that you could pass on please bring them in!

OUT OF HOURS - CALL 111 if you need medical advice or assistance anytime the practice is closed. All calls are free to this number.  CALL 999 immediately if the problem may be life threatening at anytime.

PRIVATE WORK - Please note that anything that is not NHS contracted work can take up to six weeks to complete as the doctors must give priority to all NHS work.  This includes some forms that are required for the Council.  Fees are charged where appropriate for private work.   If you do need something done please contact the Patient Services team to find about about the charges.  A GP appointment is NOT needed if you need to have forms or reports done.   Charges can be paid by card over the phone and must be paid before the work is undertaken.

Clinics & Services

Family Planning

pregnant4A full range of family planning services including contraceptive pills, coils, implanon and injectable methods are available at the surgery.  Emergency contraception is also available within 72 hours of intercourse, although it is advisable to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Maternity Services

The midwife holds a weekly ante-natal clinic on a Tuesday morning. The midwife will also arrange home visits before and after the baby is born.  The doctors support this and will carry out post-natal checks on both baby and mum 6-8 weeks after the birth.

Baby Clinic

The drop in well baby clinic is now held at local children's centres.  We still run the immunisation and 8 week health check appointments here at the surgery.   Call locala for detials of your nearest baby clinic:

Breast Feeding Facilities

The Practice promotes breast feeding. If you would like any privacy we have a room you can use. Please ask at reception.

Well Women 

Well-women checks / cervical smears are performed by the nurses.  Cervical smears are carried out in line with nationally agreed timescales and it is recommended that you make an appointment when you are called.

Asthma / Diabetes / Happy Heart         

The nursing team run special clinics specifically to meet the needs of patients who have been diagnosed with Diabetes / Asthma or Heart Conditions.  Blood Tests

Blood Tests

We have a qualified phlebotomist at the practice, so blood tests are available to have at the surgery.

Fitness to work Note

Only doctors have the authority to sign fitness to work notes. Fitness to work note’s are only required following a period of self-certification (5 working days) and you will normally require to be seen by a doctor.

Travel Vaccines

The nurses offer a range of travel vaccines although there may be a charge.  Please contact the surgery at least 8 weeks before you intend to travel for advice.  

Health Checks / Promotion

Patients who are generally healthy and have not been to the surgery for over three years (one year for patients aged 75 or over) can request a Health Check with one of the nurses. Patients may also consult with the nurses with regard to smoking cessation, diet or general health promotion advice.

Flu Vaccinations

The flu vaccination is for all patients over 65 and those of any age with certain medical conditions such as asthma, emphysema, diabetes, bronchitis, COPD and heart disease.  Flu vaccines are available from September each year. They are also recommended for ladies who are pregnant.

Minor Surgery

We have facilities to perform minor surgery at the practice e.g. the removal of lumps, tags, cysts, warts etc and give joint injections.

24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring

We have the equipment at the surgery to apply the machines without the patient having to go to the hospital.

Specialised GP's 

We have various GP's that specialise in specific areas, for example, Dermatology, Gynaecology, Minor Surgery and Joint Injections.

These areas are aimed to give you the best and most up to date information.

Spirometry / Reversibility 

Spirometry is the most common of the lung function tests. These tests look at how well your lungs work. Spirometry shows how well you breathe in and out. Breathing in and out can be affected by lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and cystic fibrosis.

Reversibility testing is done in some cases where the diagnosis of the lung condition is not clear. For this test, you will be asked to do spirometry as described above. You will then be given a medicine by inhaler or nebuliser which may open up the airways. A nebuliser allows a medicine to be inhaled like a fine mist, through a mask. The spirometry test is then repeated 30 minutes or so afterwards. The aim of this is to see if your airways open wider with medication or not. Generally, asthma has more of a reversible element to the airways obstruction, compared with COPD.

Wheelchair Use

There is the facility to use a wheelchair for any patient that needs to use it. Please ask at reception and a member of the team will get it for you.

Text Message Reminders 

The surgery sends text messages to remind patients of booked appointments, to confirm appointments to invite patients for reviews and to update patients with reletive news. No personal details will be sent in a text. Please ensure we have your up to date mobile number. You may OPT OUT of the text service at any time by advising reception. Patients are all assumed to have opted in to this service. 

Payment by card

You can pay for any transactions either by cash or by card.

Smoking Cessation

If you would like to stop smoking the Health Care Assistants run clinics to help you. Giving you help, support, tips and advice.

Ear Syringing

If you feel your ear(s) may need syringing, book an appointment with one of our nurses. You will need to put olive oil in the affected ear(s) for 4-5 days before you arrive for your appointment.

 General help

If you have a problem with anything, wether it be difficulty seeing the call screen or difficulty hearing the clinician etc, then please make the receptionist aware. We will be happy to help in any way we can.
