Noticeboard

You can now seek or request help online, please click on the GP online service banner below.

We have been made aware of some inaccurate information circulating regarding special ‘rescue packs’ for patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Please do not contact your GP practice for a rescue pack. You should continue to manage your condition in the usual way and if you feel you have symptoms of COVID-19, go to https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 before doing anything else.

Please read this helpful information from the British Lung Foundation

https://www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you/coronavirus/people-living-with-lung-condition

You will note that there is no recommendation to have a rescue pack as there is no evidence for their use and indeed their are concerns steroid will reduce your immunity to fight off this virus.

Community Transport Calderdale

Community Transport Calderdale’s aim is: “To provide transport for those residents of Calderdale that cannot access existing forms of transport provision for reasons of ILL HEALTH, DISABILITY, POVERTY, ISOLATION or SOCIAL EXCLUSION”

If you fall into any of these categories, then you are entitled to use the transport provided by CTC. CTC requires all its clients to register to become a member for legal reasons.  All transport CTC provides is for members only and this costs £1.00 per year for an individual or £10.00 per year for a community group.

Car Service

The Community Car Service is a volunteer led project where a client requests transport to attend a health or social appointment, and even supermarket trips or to a holiday destination or airport.  This is NOT a taxi service, as our volunteers will take their time with you and if you need them to wait, will do so outside the appointment (limited to 90 minutes waiting time).  The client simply pays the volunteers travel expenses – this means that clients pay 40p per mile from the volunteers home and back to their home again, which could vary if different volunteers drive for volunteers.

This service operates out of the Todmorden Office: 01706 813366.  Sandra and her team of volunteer administrators will be delighted to hear from you.

AccessBus

Metro operate an AccessBus which is a dial a ride bus service providing door to door local transport for people who are  unable to use standard local bus services.  The driver will assist passengers from door to door inlcuding boarding and alighting.

Unfortunately due the high demand on this service travel is restricted to local journeys only and mostly for shopping or to attend community centres. It is unlikely that AccessBus will be able to cater for time specific requests so they may not be able to help with you getting to you appointment.

To register or for more information conact them on 0113 348 1903 Monday to Friday 7.30am - 4pm or visit www.wymetro.com/accessbus.
